Inspiration:

In her new collection, Isabel Zapardiez has conjured up the eternal movement of the oceans; a world of silence broken only by sounds never heard before, the voices of nature.

This fantasy is linked to the landscapes of her native Donostia, where the sea envelops everything and leaves its mark on the temperament of its people. It is this sense of living in and alongside the sea that sparked Isabel Zapardiez’s fascination with this medium and the living beings that inhabit it.

Isabel Zapardiez’s women move smoothly, sinuously, with all the mystery of marine creatures, enveloped in designs that accentuate the aquatic effect. The designer presents us with a woman who is strong and intense, who expresses herself without a trace of languor.

This harmonious movement of the currents and the waves is expressed in the movement of the fabrics, in the contrast of the different textures and shapes, in the shades of blue and the many other subtle details that round off the designs in this new collection.

Shapes

The women who inhabit this dreamlike world represent the whole spectrum of nature under the sea; they might be mermaids with sinuous shapes, or anemones which generate flowing movements around them; for this reason, the designs in the collection combine the contrasts of ethereal and impossible volumes with shapes that outline the feminine silhouette, playing with the different effects of transparencies.

In technical terms the dresses are made based on whole pieces, as an expression of Isabel Zapardiez’s interest in investigating every possible option of the different fabrics, working the designs with very little cutting.

Fabrics

The designs in the collection showcase all their expressiveness in movement, with the fabrics producing very clean undulating, sinuous effects. To achieve this, Isabel Zapardiez makes use of organza, lightweight satin, tulle, etc.

In contrast to this movement there are also designs based on heavier fabrics and more solid textures to represent the whole universe of visual and tactile sensations of corals, starfish, seahorses, and so on.

Colours

As well as the range of whites, the colour palette reflects the natural universe of the shore: gentle shades of blue and a host of soft tones ranging from sandy beige to stone.
